Although many career advisers are advising candidates to break all rules and reach all connections and get connected faster to get hired as soon as possible. But this may have negative impact on your current job and your position may be undermined at your current workplace.

Therefore it is important to keep your job search secret – specially in these economic times. Here are few ways you can keep you job search secret.

  • Don’t tell your coworkers. Telling coworker is the easiest way to spread the word that you are looking for new job. So never tell anyone that you are looking for new job.
  • Never start networking openly. Do not send Facebook and LinkedIn open messages that you are looking for a new job. Be very careful in contacting people about your new job search.
  • Wait to kick the door shut. Wait to inform your boss until you you have the offer letter in hand. Your boss may react negatively and without offer letter in hand, you might feel bit distressed.
